COLLECTION OF NUMISMATICS
The exhibits of numismatic, phalleristic, and bonistic groups are preserved and investigated in the Collection of Numismatics of the Vytautas the Great War Museum.
The numismatic group consists of the coins of fourteen treasures found in the territory of Lithuania from ancient times to the present day, as well as individual coins from various states. With the exception of one treasure of Roman coins, the other treasures contain coins of different European countries, dating from the 16th to 20th centuries.. The phalleristic group consists of military and public orders, medals, and badges of the Republic of Lithuania and other countries. The bonistic group contains banknotes of different states, dating from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 21st century.
The Collection of Numismatics complements the temporary and permanent exhibitions of the Vytautas the Great War Museum with the exhibits that help to reveal the merits of distinguished people and the contribution of the military service to the national defense. The collection has 39,000 exhibits related not only to the military but also to monetary exchange or sporting and cultural achievements. The variety of the Collection of Numismatics provides an opportunity to become fully acquainted with the past of the State of Lithuania.
