HALL OF UPRISINGS

In this room visitors will learn about the attempt to re-establish statehood from thje end of the 18th to the 19th century, The first uprising against the influence of foreigners took place in 1794. The rebellion is highlighted mainly by several dioramas showing the uniforms of the last soldiers of the army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the rebels (Vilnius National Guard) and reconstructed weapons at the Gates of Dawn, where fierce battles took place in 1794. Further history of battles is presented in the exhibitions „Lithuania in the war of 1812“ and „Uprisings of 1831 and of 1863–1864 in Lithuania“. These exhibitions have abundant weaponry from this period, accoutrements, uniform reconstructions and paintings.
